Anthropic Conceptual Reasoning Fellowship 2027

Anthropic pays $100,000 to $167,000 for a four month Conceptual Reasoning Fellowship. Apply by 28 October 2026.

The Anthropic Conceptual Reasoning Fellowship brings researchers and experts from philosophy, cognitive science, economics, policy, and law into Anthropic for four months. Fellows work with research teams and use frontier Claude models and internal evaluation tooling to test and apply Claude in their field. Pay is $100,000 to $167,000 USD for the four months, described as equal to $300,000 to $500,000 USD a year, plus other benefits.

You can apply if you hold a PhD, or are completing one, in philosophy, cognitive science, economics, policy, or law, or if you have equivalent research experience. You need hands on experience using Claude and Claude Code. You must already have authorization to work in the United States for the whole program. Anthropic says it cannot sponsor visas for this fellowship.

Apply on the Greenhouse posting. Later stages usually include a take home exercise and conversations with the research team and possible mentors about your interests and project directions. Anthropic plans to make offers by 20 November 2026.

The program runs from 12 January to 8 May 2027 and is full time. Some fellowships may be extended. The default location is San Francisco. Remote work inside the United States is considered in some cases. Every fellow attends a one week orientation in San Francisco. Fellows are engaged through an employer of record on a fixed term contract, not employed directly by Anthropic.

Anthropic looks for people who can find open problems in their field, design evaluations and environments that test expert judgment, and work with other fellows on the hardest questions in that discipline. Preferred experience includes designing evaluations, benchmarks, datasets, or expert rubrics.
