Anthropic AI for Science program

Anthropic offers researchers up to $50,000 in API credits per project through its AI for Science program. Any researcher can apply, on a rolling basis.

The Anthropic AI for Science program gives researchers API credits for scientific work. On August 27, 2026 Anthropic said it is expanding its support for scientists and pointed to the program as the way to get compute for larger projects. A project can apply for up to $50,000 in credits.

Any researcher is eligible to apply. Applications go through a short form linked from the announcement, and there is no stated deadline.

The same announcement opened a Claude team plan for scientists with 10,000 seats. Standard seats are free for one year and premium seats with higher usage limits cost $15 per month. That plan is only for principal investigators or their equivalent at academic or nonprofit research institutions, who verify their status through an institutional form.

Anthropic says it wants to support ambitious, compute heavy research. It names work in the biological sciences and other scientific fields, and gives protein design and mathematical problems as examples of what Claude has been used for. Biology and chemistry researchers are currently limited to Opus class models.
