Open Science NL Mobility and Development Programme 2026
Open Science NL funds study visits abroad for Dutch open science professionals, up to €25,000. Apply in ISAAC until 3 December 2026.
The Mobility and Development Programme from Open Science NL funds study visits so open science professionals at Dutch research organisations can learn practices abroad and bring them home. Open Science NL opened the call on 11 August 2026. The 2026 round has a €500,000 budget. Each project can request up to €25,000. The whole call has €1 million across 2026 and 2027, with another €500,000 round planned for 2027.
A project can last up to nine months: up to six months for the visit and up to three months to share what was learned. Applicants can claim costs that make the visit possible. After the visit, the knowledge has to be shared inside the home institution and, where possible, with the wider open science community.
Who can apply: data stewards, research software engineers, community managers, and people working on open access publishing, open research hardware, or citizen science. They must hold a permanent post, or a fixed term post that lasts at least until the project ends, at a listed Dutch organisation such as a university, university of applied sciences, university medical centre, or a KNAW or NWO institute. People with a zero hour contract cannot apply.
Applications can be sent at any time. They are handled in the order they arrive. The last moment to apply for 2026 is 3 December 2026 before 14:00 CET. If the budget is spent earlier, the instrument closes. Open Science NL aims to fund every application that meets the conditions while money remains.
Submit through the ISAAC system of NWO. Download the call for proposals, the application form, and the commitment form from the programme page, then upload the completed PDFs in ISAAC. Create an ISAAC account at least one working day before you submit.
