CHARTED Fund 3: Tools and Frameworks

Grants of up to £150,000 from CHARTED for tools that help digital research technical professionals find training. First round closes September 30, 2026.

CHARTED Fund 3: Tools and Frameworks funds the development of tools, frameworks and approaches that make the training ecosystem for digital research technical professionals (dRTPs) easier to navigate. The fund has £350k in total across two rounds. In each round, one large project can receive up to £150k and several small projects up to £15k each. Grants cover 80 percent of the full economic costs.

Examples of what the fund supports are self assessment tools, tools that connect skills to training resources, new approaches to continuous professional development and best practice guides.

Lead applicants can be based at a UK university in any role, not only academics. UK based nonprofit organisations that can sign a grant agreement are eligible, as are freelance trainers, educators and community managers, either alone or as part of a larger team. Collaborative proposals from several institutions are welcome for the larger projects.

The first round closes on September 30, 2026 at 11:59pm BST. A second round is expected in late spring 2027. Projects can last up to 12 months and must start within 3 months of approval.

Applications go through the Good Grants platform linked from the fund page. A recording of the information webinar from July 23, 2026 is available on the CHARTED site.
