Creative Europe MEDIA Video Games and Immersive Content Development 2027

The EU Creative Europe MEDIA 2027 call gives European game and XR studios up to EUR 200 000 to develop narrative games up to the first prototype. Apply by 2 February 2027.

The Creative Europe MEDIA call Video Games and Immersive Content Development 2027 (CREA-MEDIA-2027-DEVVGIM) opened on 30 September 2026. It funds the concept development phase of narrative video games and interactive immersive experiences, from the first idea until the first prototype. Production is not funded.

A project can ask for a maximum of EUR 200 000. The grant is a lump sum based on the estimated project budget and a funding rate of 60%. The total call budget is EUR 13 500 000. Projects should not normally run longer than 36 months, and production of the work must be scheduled to start at least 10 months after the deadline.

The call is for video game production companies, XR studios and audiovisual production companies established in countries that take part fully in the MEDIA strand and owned mainly by nationals of those countries. Publishing companies cannot apply. A single company can apply, or a consortium of at least two. The coordinator must show a video game or immersive experience it produced that was commercially distributed between 1 January 2024 and the deadline. Early Access titles and work for hire do not count. Some genres are excluded, for example puzzle, sports, racing, quiz and party games.

Applications go through the European Commission Funding and Tenders Portal. The deadline is 2 February 2027 at 17:00 Brussels time. Evaluation runs from February to June 2027, applicants hear the result in July 2027, and grant agreements are signed in October 2027.

The call document says evaluators look at originality of the concept and story, innovation in gameplay or technology, the quality of storytelling, visuals and sound, accessibility, and how sound the development and financing plans are. Applications should also explain how the project handles environmental impact and gender balance, inclusion and diversity.
