Creative Europe MEDIA Innovative Tools and Business Models 2027
The EU Creative Europe MEDIA 2027 call funds new software tools and business models for film, TV and video games, including AI tools, at 80% of costs. Apply by 14 January 2027.
The Creative Europe MEDIA call Innovative Tools and Business Models 2027 (CREA-MEDIA-2027-INNOVBUSMOD) opened on 30 September 2026. It supports tools and business models that help European audiovisual works, including video games, reach more people online, and that make the industry more competitive and greener. This year the call also asks for projects that help the industry use artificial intelligence.
The call budget is EUR 14 000 000. There is no fixed limit on the grant a project can request. The grant pays back actual eligible costs at a funding rate of 80%, and the call says projects that ask for less than the 80% maximum will be assessed on that. Projects should not normally run longer than 36 months.
Examples in the call include subtitling, accessibility, discoverability and recommendation tools, automated rights management, data gathering and analysis, and new ways to produce, finance, distribute or promote works with technology such as AI, big data or virtual worlds. Hardware such as cameras or headsets is not funded.
Public or private legal entities established in countries taking part fully in the MEDIA strand, and owned mainly by nationals of those countries, can apply. A single organisation can apply, or a consortium of at least two. The call asks for a plan to share the inputs and results of the project with public authorities and the industry.
Applications go through the European Commission Funding and Tenders Portal. The deadline is 14 January 2027 at 17:00 Brussels time. Evaluation runs from January to May 2027, results come in July 2027, and grant agreements are signed in October 2027.
