Creative Saskatchewan Digital Game Development Grant 2026
Creative Saskatchewan grants up to CAD 50,000 a year for commercial digital games made by Saskatchewan owned teams. Apply by 18 November 2026.
The Creative Saskatchewan Digital Game Development Grant funds original digital games and eLearning products with commercial intent. Eligible projects include phone and tablet apps, console or PC games, and augmented or virtual reality experiences. Every project made with the grant must be offered for sale.
There are two streams. The preproduction stream pays for early work such as a playable prototype, demo or vertical slice, design documents, pitch material and business plans. The production stream pays for a complete game that is released for sale. One application can cover several stages.
An applicant can ask for up to CAD 50,000 or 50% of the cash budget per fiscal year, whichever is less. A single project is capped at CAD 100,000 or 50% of its total cash budget over its whole life. Creative Saskatchewan says that in 2024/25 the program approved two out of 13 applications.
Applicants can be individuals or corporations. They must own the project alone or with others, control the copyright and receive a share of sales revenue. The project needs at least 51% Saskatchewan ownership. Casino type games, commissioned projects and work already funded by SK Arts or SaskCulture are not eligible. eLearning projects must use game mechanics.
The round opened on 20 May 2026 and closes on 18 November 2026 at 4:00 PM Saskatchewan time. Applications go through the Creative Saskatchewan Grant Management System and must use the budget template. Results come about 10 weeks after the deadline. Creative Saskatchewan advises booking a consultation with a program advisor and applying well before the deadline.
