Screen Australia Future Leaders Delegation to BitSummit 2027
Screen Australia gives up to eight Australian gamemakers $6,000 (AUD) each to travel to BitSummit 2027 in Kyoto. Applications close 5 November 2026.
The Future Leaders Delegation to BitSummit 2027 is a Screen Australia initiative for early to mid career Australian gamemakers. Up to eight delegates will travel to Kyoto, Japan, for BitSummit 2027, which runs from 21 to 23 May 2027. Each delegate brings a games project.
Each successful applicant receives $6,000 (AUD) towards flights, accommodation, event tickets, ground transport and meals. Screen Australia also runs workshops, presentations, mentoring and networking before and during the trip. Delegates can show their game on an Australia stand at BitSummit. Screen Australia separately covers the cost of travel to a workshop in Melbourne before departure.
Individuals and companies can apply. Individuals must be Australian citizens or permanent residents. Companies must be incorporated and run from Australia, and they name one person to attend. Every applicant needs an active ABN. Delegates must have released at least one game on a public platform such as Steam, itch.io or the App Store. They must also be working on a game that will be ready to show at the event. People who joined an earlier Future Leaders Delegation cannot apply. The initiative also aims to support gamemakers from under represented backgrounds.
You apply through the Screen Australia funding portal. Read the guidelines and FAQs on the fund page first. Applications are judged on the strength of the proposal and the game, the likely impact on your career and your plans to share what you learn with your community. Equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility also count as a criterion.
Applications close at 5pm AEDT on Thursday 5 November 2026. Applicants hear the outcome by 11 December 2026. Delegates must also attend that workshop in Melbourne in mid April 2027.
