Decentraland Creator Success 2026: paid game development for indie creators
Up to $4,100 in staged funding for solo developers and small teams to build social games in Decentraland. Apply for V0 by 30 November 2026.
Decentraland Creator Success is a funded path into game development for individual developers and small indie studios. The Decentraland Foundation pays in stages. Each stage depends on playtesting and on how well the game keeps its players.
The first stage, V0, pays $1,000 for a vertical slice: a small version of the game that tests the core idea with players. If V0 works, the team and the Foundation agree a four week V1 scope worth $3,100, which turns the slice into the first full playable version released in Decentraland. Games with strong player retention can move on to V2 at $2,800 and then V3. Moving to the next stage is not automatic.
Applicants must be over 18 and should already know how to make games. Before applying, you play at least three Featured games in Decentraland for at least 90 minutes in total, install Creator Hub and build a first scene. You then create a GitHub repository for your game with a Game Design Document at /design/gdd.md, publish a small playable test scene to your own Decentraland World and add a README that links to it.
You apply through the V0 form. It asks about the Featured games you played, your team, the test scene and the repository. No pitch deck is needed. Applications are reviewed and accepted every week, so you can apply as soon as your project is ready.
The first round of V0 applications is open until 30 November 2026. The Foundation says it looks for games with a clear loop, social play and a reason to return, and that it wants each V0 to start a longer working relationship rather than end as a one off prize.
Quick answers
Is this a competition?
No. It is a staged development path, not a buildathon. You do not need a finished game to apply.
Can I apply again if I am not selected?
Yes. You can keep working on the project and reapply as many times as you like while applications are open.
What kind of games does the programme want?
Social games that players return to: a clear game loop, real play with other people and a reason to come back the next day.
