SOSV HAX hard tech accelerator

SOSV's HAX program invests up to $550,000 in pre seed hard tech startups and gives them a six month lab residency in New Jersey. Applications are rolling.

HAX is the hard tech program of the venture firm SOSV. It backs pre seed startups that work where science meets engineering, in fields such as energy, advanced compute, transportation, health tech and manufacturing. HAX accepts applications on a rolling basis.

HAX gives up to $550,000 in initial pre seed funding. SOSV can also join later rounds and gives access to its network of more than 7,700 investors. Founders get a six month residency at the 35,000 sq. ft. HAX headquarters in Newark, New Jersey. It has chemistry, analytics, electrical engineering and mechatronics labs. HAX engineers work next to the founders, with more engineering, design, supply chain and manufacturing staff in Pune and Shenzhen.

There is a second location, HAX Plasma Forge in Princeton, New Jersey. On July 8, 2026 SOSV announced it will be based at SRI in Princeton and will open in late 2026. It is for plasma startups in fusion, energy, semiconductors, advanced materials and clean manufacturing. Founders there also get up to $550K from SOSV, plasma lab equipment and work with scientists from the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory.

HAX looks for a validated problem, a strong technical team that understands its customers, and a working prototype. The prototype does not need to be polished. HAX tries to read every application within two weeks.

To apply, fill in the form on the SOSV site. Choose HAX Newark or HAX Plasma Forge and add a link to your pitch deck. The form also asks for your cap table and any money you have raised so far.
