The Iliad Intensive is a four week, full time, in person course on foundational AI alignment research. The January 2027 cohort runs from 4 January to 29 January 2027. The application form lists it for London or the Bay Area.
There is no tuition. Participants receive a $5,000 USD allowance for travel and housing, office space, and lunch and dinner five days a week. The course runs five days a week, from 10am to 6pm.
The course covers five areas: alignment, the theory of deep learning, interpretability, agency and safety guarantees. Iliad says it has more math and less coding than a research engineering course. It is a taught course, not a research programme.
The course is for people with a strong mathematical background, typically those studying for or holding a graduate degree in mathematics, physics or theoretical computer science. A PhD is not required. Iliad also looks at research experience, general competence and motivation.
