Screen Queensland Digital Games Incentive 2026/27

Screen Queensland pays 15% of eligible Queensland game development spend on projects spending at least AU$250,000. Apply by 30 June 2027.

The Screen Queensland Digital Games Incentive 2026/27 pays back part of the money a studio spends on game development in Queensland, Australia. Screen Queensland wants to bring game projects to the state and help local studios grow. International companies that open a new studio in Queensland can also use it.

The incentive is 15% of eligible Queensland Game Development Expenditure (QGDE). There is no fixed cap, but Screen Queensland decides the final amount and it depends on the money available. Studios can combine it with the Australian Government's Digital Games Tax Offset, which is a 30% refundable tax offset.

You can apply if your company has an ABN and pays Queensland resident developers to work on a game, with at least AU$250,000 of eligible spend. Queensland resident means living in the state for at least 2 months. Eligible spend is mainly wages for developers, plus quality assurance, localisation and similar support staff, and up to 5% for overheads. Spending before the application date does not count. Entertainment, premium, free to play and live ops games for mobile, PC, console and VR or AR can apply. Gambling games, games for education or training, advertising games and games that are not fully digital cannot.

You nominate a period of 9 months to 2 years, starting no earlier than the application date. Several games cannot be bundled to reach the minimum spend, but updates of the same game can. Only one company may apply per game.

This is a rolling fund, so you can apply at any time through the SmartyGrants form. Submissions for the 2026/27 round close at 5pm AEST on 30 June 2027.
