The IEEE ClimateChain Global Hackathon 2026 asks teams to build climate solutions with blockchain and AI. It runs online on Devpost from October 5 to October 25, 2026.
The prize pool is $3,000 or more in cash: $1,500, $1,000 and $500 for the top three teams. The top three teams also get an IEEE Certificate of Merit. All eligible participants get a certificate of participation.
There are four tracks. They are carbon markets and emissions transparency, renewable energy and energy trading, sustainable supply chains, and climate data and environmental monitoring.
The rules page lists students, academic researchers, independent developers, startups and environmental professionals as eligible. The Devpost header shows the event as students only and says some countries are excluded, so check the full rules before you register. Teams have 2 to 5 members and individual entries are allowed.
To enter, register on Devpost and pick one track. Your submission needs a project description, a demo video of 3 to 5 minutes, a public code repository and a working prototype or proof of concept. Judges look at climate impact, innovation, technical execution, practical use and presentation.
The organizers run learning sessions before the build. The last one is on October 5, 2026. The organizing committee is the IEEE Blockchain Türkiye Group, working with the IEEE Blockchain Technical Group and several IEEE chapters.
