Filecoin Foundation Open Grants
Filecoin Foundation Open Grants pay up to $50,000 for open source work that advances Filecoin. Proposals are reviewed as they arrive, with no fixed close date.
Filecoin Foundation Open Grants fund work that moves the Filecoin ecosystem forward. Teams can request up to $50,000. New Open Grant proposals were still being filed on the Filecoin grants repository in mid September 2026.
The call covers developer and data tooling, integrations into existing tools, research and protocols, storage markets, retrieval, and Filecoin Virtual Machine work such as rollups and core improvements. The program says it will favor work that improves Filecoin itself and will put less weight on projects that only serve IPFS, libp2p or other stacks.
Every project must be open source, dual licensed under MIT and Apache 2, and run by a self managed team. Work must not start until both sides have signed the Open Source Software Grant Agreement.
Proposals are filed as GitHub issues with the Open Grants template. Review is continuous. The committee aims to give a first reply within two weeks of submission and a final decision within four weeks. Questions can go to grants@fil.org or the grants help channel on Filecoin Slack.
