Grant Open

Screenwest Professional Development Placements 2026/27

Screenwest pays up to AU$25,000 for a Western Australian games developer or screen worker to take a placement with a leading company. Open until 30 June 2027.

Screenwest Professional Development Placements fund Western Australian key creatives, crew and digital games developers. The placement must be an exceptional national or international opportunity with a reputable company.

Funding is up to AU$25,000 per placement. It is paid as a grant to the placement provider, which employs the practitioner. The provider must give a letter of commitment that names a mentor, insure the practitioner, and sign a formal agreement with them.

Applicants must live in Western Australia, be 18 or over, and have a track record that fits the placement.

Either the practitioner or the provider applies online through SmartyGrants. Applications are accepted at any time and the 2026/27 round closes at 5pm AWST on 30 June 2027. Decisions usually come within 2 to 4 weeks.

Only a few exceptional placements are funded each year, with a focus on skill gaps. Screenwest looks at the provider's track record, the practitioner's commitment, the merit of the opportunity and the benefit to the industry in Western Australia.
