GGJ Micro-Missions Studio Microgrants from Global Game Jam
Global Game Jam gives indie studios up to $2,500 to pay emerging talent for small art, audio and QA tasks. Applications are reviewed monthly.
GGJ Micro-Missions is a pilot programme from Global Game Jam, supported by Endless Foundation. It gives indie game studios a Micro-Missions grant of up to $2,500 to pay emerging talent from the GGJ, Endless and EMPACT communities for small tasks in art, audio and QA.
Each mission is a task that can be done in under 48 hours. Global Game Jam manages the money and pays participants $25 to $100 per task through PayPal. The grant can only be used for these payments.
Studios must be registered businesses with a team of at least four employees or contractor equivalent. They must have operated for at least one year or have investment funding. Solo founders are not eligible in Year 1. Studios cover their own staff time to set up tasks, choose assets within five business days and review bug reports, and they agree to a survey and a feedback call after the grant.
To apply, fill in the application form, which takes about 30 minutes. Selection includes a 30 minute interview and references if GGJ does not already know the studio. GGJ Indie Studio Supporters get priority, but membership is not required.
Applications are reviewed at the end of each month, and decisions come by the end of the following month. Global Game Jam plans to select 25 to 30 studios by 31 March 2027. New missions are posted on Mondays.
