Build for Bharat Fellowship 2027

Build for Bharat pays Indian early career technologists ₹40,000 a month for six months. Apply by 18 October 2026.

The Build for Bharat Fellowship 2027 is a six month paid fellowship from Bharat Digital. Fellows work inside a government department on public technology. The stipend is ₹40,000 a month for six months, and fellows are on the Bharat Digital payroll.

The fellowship is only for Indian citizens. Applicants are students or early career professionals who graduated in 2024, 2025 or 2026, or who will graduate in 2027. You need demonstrable skills in design, artificial intelligence, or engineering. There are three tracks, and each track has its own application form.

Work starts with an orientation on public service and policy. Fellows are then placed with a government team. Bharat Digital assigns the department. You do not choose it. The page says most fellows ship changes to government systems in the first month. Mentoring, field visits, and help finding a next step in public technology are part of the program.

Applications close on 18 October 2026 at 11:59 p.m. IST. The fellowship lasts six months and starts in January. Locations are across India and are shared at orientation. Past cohorts worked in Delhi, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai.

Bharat Digital is not a government organisation. It runs the fellowship with selected departments and says it looks for people who can strengthen digital public systems.
