Zcash Community Grants

Zcash Community Grants funds independent teams building public goods for the Zcash ecosystem. Applications are open all year and are filed as GitHub issues.

Zcash Community Grants funds independent teams that enter the Zcash ecosystem to carry out major ongoing development, or other work for the public good. The committee reports about 100,000 ZEC available, which the page values at around $11 million at a price of $110 per ZEC. No fixed amount per grant is published.

Applications are accepted all year. You file one as an issue in the Zcash Community Grants repository on GitHub, using the grant application template. The committee also takes ideas for requests for proposals through a separate form, and one open request covers Zcash lightwalletd infrastructure development and maintenance.

The programme is active. New applications were filed in the repository on September 14 and September 16, 2026, and carry the label that marks them ready for committee review.

Because proposals are public issues, you can read earlier applications before writing your own to see the level of detail the committee expects.
