Xecs Quantum Call 2026: funding to bring quantum technology to market
The first Xecs Quantum Call funds international projects that move quantum sensing, metrology and communications towards market. Outlines due 26 November 2026.
The Xecs Quantum Call is the first thematic call of Xecs, the Eureka Cluster for electronic components and systems run by AENEAS. It funds international collaborative R&D projects that move quantum technologies closer to industrial use and sale.
Projects can work on one or more of four areas. These are quantum sensing, for example in healthcare, navigation, environment and space; quantum metrology, including testing, benchmarking and standards; quantum communications and cybersecurity; and electronic technologies that enable quantum computing, such as cryogenic electronics, integrated photonics and single photon detectors. Work on qubits or quantum processors themselves is not in scope.
Funding comes from national authorities and follows each country's rules, budgets and eligibility, so rates can differ. As of July 2026 the participating countries are Austria, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Spain, Türkiye and Ukraine. Xecs says more countries may join. The page gives no amounts.
A consortium needs at least two independent legal entities from at least two Eureka countries. No single organisation or country may hold more than 70% of the budget. The project must have commercial potential and a civilian purpose.
Applications go through the Xecs Project Zone in English and in two stages. Project outlines are due on 26 November 2026 at 17:00 CET. Invited consortia then send a full project proposal by 5 March 2027.
Quick answers
Can a project build a quantum computer or new qubits?
No. Enabling electronics for quantum computing, such as cryogenic electronics, integrated photonics and single photon detectors, are in scope. Building qubits or quantum processors is out of scope.
How mature should the technology be?
The call aims to take technologies from TRL 4 or 5 up to TRL 6 or 7.
