Game Devs of Color Expo awards $21,000 in development grants for 2026
Game Devs of Color Expo gave $21,000 in grants with no strings attached to six creators of color across three game projects, $7,000 per project.
Game Devs of Color Expo (GDoCExpo) has awarded $21,000 in development grants to six creators of color across three game projects. The organizer announced the results on 13 October 2026. The grants come with no strings attached and are meant to speed up development.
Each project received $7,000. One grant is the Game Devs of Color Grant, supported by the publisher No More Robots. The other two are Game Devs of Color "Made in NY" Grants, supported by the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME).
GDoCExpo says it has given out more than $450,000 to underrepresented game creators since 2019. No More Robots has been a main sponsor, and MOME has helped keep the development grants going.
The awards closed the eleventh annual conference, which ran online from 22 to 25 September 2026. The organizer reports 1,200 virtual attendees and 27 in person watch parties.
This is a results announcement, so there is nothing to apply for now. The release does not give dates for the next grant round.
