AWS Agentic AI call for proposals: Fall 2026

AWS funds agentic AI research with gifts of no more than $70,000 on average, plus AWS credits. Proposals close 4 November 2026.

The AWS Agentic AI call for proposals is a Fall 2026 round of the Amazon Research Awards. It funds open source tools and research on AI agents that help the wider AI community, or other impactful research related to agents. Selected principal investigators may receive unrestricted funds, no more than $70,000 USD on average, and AWS Promotional Credits, no more than $50,000 USD on average, plus training with Amazon scientists and engineers. Awards are one time unrestricted gifts. The budget should list expected costs in USD and should not include administrative overhead. Decision letters go out in February 2027.

The call lists six areas. They cover no code and low code tools for deploying agents, productivity applications for human and AI work, multi agent systems, agents for scientific discovery, scalable checks of agent trajectories, and agent customization outside the model. Other welcome topics include safety for agentic behavior, data access methods, enterprise operations, and domains such as software engineering, healthcare, finance, and media.

The same Amazon Research Awards rules apply. The principal investigator must be full time faculty at an accredited academic institution, or a permanent researcher at a non governmental organisation with recognised legal status equivalent to 501(c)(3) status. They must be at or above the age of majority, and may send only one proposal in this call period. Amazon employees cannot receive an award. The program is void in Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, and the Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.

Proposals should follow the template and are encouraged to be at most 4 pages, not counting appendices. This call also asks how the work differs from existing research, which open source tools you plan to contribute to, and which AWS machine learning tools you will use. You submit through the button on the call page. Amazon says decisions rest on impact for the research community and the quality of the scientific content, and it encourages use of AWS AI and machine learning services.

The submission period is 1 October to 4 November 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
