SMU Cox FinTech Accelerator 2027, powered by MassChallenge

A free 16 week hybrid accelerator in Dallas for up to 15 fintech startups, with no equity taken. Applications run from October 6 to November 19, 2026.

The SMU Cox FinTech Accelerator is a new program from SMU Cox School of Business and MassChallenge. It runs for 16 weeks and mixes virtual work with three in person sessions in Dallas, Texas. The inaugural cohort will have up to 15 startups.

The program is free for selected startups and MassChallenge takes no equity. There is no cash investment. Startups pay for their own travel and related costs.

It is open to fintech startups from pre seed to Series A that show early signs of product market fit. Teams can come from SMU, Dallas or anywhere in the world, and at least three seats each year are kept for SMU affiliated ventures. Topics include fraud and cybersecurity, compliance, AI in financial services, lending, payments, digital assets, capital markets and embedded finance. An open topic track takes ideas that fit none of these.

Applications open on October 6, 2026 and close on November 19, 2026. Judging runs from December 2026 to January 2027. The program starts in February 2027, has a midpoint in April and ends with a final event in June 2027. In person attendance is required at all three sessions.

To apply, create a startup profile on the MassChallenge platform, then select the SMU Cox FinTech program. Applications go through two rounds of review. The curriculum covers market validation, regulatory and technical alignment, business model, enterprise engagement and capital strategy.
