Kotlin Multiplatform Contest 2027
Students and recent graduates can build a Kotlin Multiplatform app and win one of three trips to KotlinConf 2027 in Kraków. Submit by December 7, 2026.
The Kotlin Multiplatform Contest 2027 is a coding contest for students and recent graduates. It is run by the Kotlin Foundation. You build a cross platform app with Kotlin Multiplatform, which shares Kotlin code across Android, iOS, desktop, web and server.
The authors of the top three projects win a trip to KotlinConf 2027 in Kraków, Poland, on April 22 and 23, 2027. The prize covers airfare, three nights of hotel and a conference ticket. The rules give an approximate retail value of $3,000 USD. Winners also get Kotlin swag, and all other valid entries get Kotlin souvenirs.
You must be at least 18 years old. You must be enrolled in full time undergraduate or graduate study, or have been enrolled within the last 12 months. People living in Brazil, Quebec, Italy or OFAC sanctioned countries cannot enter. Employees of the Kotlin Foundation, JetBrains and Google are not eligible. You must join the contest Slack channel.
The project must use Kotlin Multiplatform and run on at least two platforms. It must be made for this contest, be written in English, and not be a template, a library or a "Hello World" app. Submit one project with a GitHub link and a full README that explains how to run it on every target. The organizers suggest adding AI features and offer a starter kit.
The contest started on September 16, 2026. The deadline is December 7, 2026 at 23:59 CET, and winners are announced around December 21, 2026. Judges score creativity and novelty (40%), use of Kotlin Multiplatform (40%) and Kotlin coding conventions (20%).
