ETHGlobal Tokyo 2026 is a three day in person hackathon in Tokyo, Japan, from September 25 to 27, 2026. The event page lists $75,000 available in prizes. The deadline to apply is September 20 at 11:59 p.m.
Partner prizes named on the page include $15,000 from World, $10,000 from ENS, $10,000 from Uniswap Foundation, $7,000 from 1inch, $5,000 from Sui, $3,000 from Curvegrid, and $2,500 from Web3Antivirus. Some partner tracks split a share of the pool for teams that bring an existing repository rather than starting from scratch.
ETHGlobal expects more than 800 attendees, more than 10 protocols and more than 29 workshops. Listed themes include zero knowledge proofs, AI and crypto, DeFi, consumer apps, layer 2s, interoperability, public goods, privacy and security, TEEs, data availability, identity and developer tools. The event is described as beginner friendly, with technical mentorship, food and drinks on site.
Teams can have one to five people. Applications are considered per person, so every team member must apply and be accepted. For Tokyo, a project does not have to start from an empty repository. Builders may start from scratch, extend an open source repository they already maintain, or ship one new feature on an existing product as open source. Teams may use up to three sponsor SDKs.
Apply on the ETHGlobal Tokyo apply page. The venue is Toranomon Hills Forum, fifth floor, in Minato City, Tokyo.
