Clojurists Together quarterly fellowships

Clojurists Together funds open source developers to work on their own projects through quarterly fellowships. There are two levels. Fellowships of $1,000 or $2,000 are for smaller or more experimental work and can run up to three months. Fellowships of $9,000 are for larger work and can be spread over one to twelve months.

There is also annual funding, usually about $1,500 a month or $18,000 for the year. Clojurists Together issues a separate call for annual funding towards the end of the year. Its committee reviews those applications and members vote on the final awardees using ranked voting.

To apply you must be a maintainer of the project, meaning you have commit access or the other people working on it recognise you as a maintainer. The project has to be open source with a recognised licence, and it has to benefit the Clojure or ClojureScript community. The form asks five short questions and Clojurists Together says most applications take five minutes or less.

You can apply at any time for the next funding cycle, and you can send in more than one application for different projects. Proposals that are not funded are carried into the two following cycles. Once you are selected you have two months to start the work.

The program is active. On August 5, 2026 Clojurists Together published a call for proposals alongside its July 2026 community survey, awarding up to $29,000 for Q3 2026 projects. On September 13, 2026 it published an update on the work of its five annually funded developers for July and August 2026.
