The Jupyter Foundation Community Funding Call 2026 invites Jupyter community members to propose work that strengthens the Jupyter ecosystem. The foundation pays for the proposals it selects. No fixed amounts or budget ranges are published. The foundation notes that smaller budgets tend to have a higher acceptance rate, but still asks applicants to be ambitious.
Proposals must fit one of two priorities: growing contributor capacity, or improving the reliability, security and consistency of Jupyter's software.
Any active Jupyter community member or contributor can submit. Joint proposals from several community members are encouraged.
To apply, copy the Google Doc proposal template, keep the text short and easy to understand, and ask the Jupyter councils or committees affected by the work for an endorsement. Then open an issue in the funding proposals repository on GitHub using the proposal template.
The call opened on July 9, 2026. The deadline is Wednesday, September 9, 2026, anywhere on Earth. Committee review ends on September 18, board review and Linux Foundation signoff end on September 25, and funded proposals are announced on September 30.
