Codex x TwitchCon Hackathon 2026
Build a tool for Twitch streamers and their chat with OpenAI Codex and compete for $25,000 in cash. The online hackathon closes November 2, 2026.
The Codex x TwitchCon Hackathon is an online hackathon from Twitch and OpenAI. You use OpenAI Codex to build something for Twitch streamers and their community. The project has to connect to Twitch, for example through the Twitch API, EventSub, chat, Extensions or overlays.
The prize pool is $25,000 in cash. First place gets $10,000, second $6,000 and third $4,000, and two runners up get $2,500 each. The top five projects are presented on the Codex Booth stage at TwitchCon San Diego on November 15, where the winners are announced live.
Entrants must be at least 18, or the age of majority where they live. Companies and professional organizations cannot take part, and residents of Brazil, Quebec, Russia, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and other sanctioned places are excluded. The legal sponsor is Amazon Advertising LLC, and Devpost runs the event.
To submit, send a code repository link, a public YouTube demo of up to 3 minutes that shows the project on Twitch and how you used Codex, a text description, and the session ID of the Codex thread where you did most of the build. Ideas the organizers suggest include tools for streamers to create together, ways for chat to join in such as polls or Twitch Plays games, and add ons for what is being streamed.
Submissions are open from October 23 to November 2, 2026 at 10:00 pm UTC. Judges score innovation, potential impact, technical build and use of Codex, and design.
