Build for Everyone Hackathon 2026
k-ID invites 15 teams to a one day app and game hackathon at Google San Francisco on 21 October 2026. Apply by 12 October.
Build for Everyone is a one day hackathon from k-ID, hosted at Google San Francisco on 21 October 2026. Fifteen teams build an app or game that adapts to the age of the person using it. The page says the new k-ID tooling for that work is revealed on the morning of the event, alongside Google AI Studio, Gemini, and Google Cloud.
The page does not state a cash prize. It says winners can receive Google Cloud and AI credits, an expanded allowance on k-ID, time with the judges and with Google's product team, and recognition on the event page. It also says full prize details will be posted before applications close. Taking part is free. Breakfast, lunch, and the workspace are provided. Travel and accommodation are not.
Applications are open to anyone 18 or older who builds consumer apps or games. Teams of two or three are the expected size. If you apply alone, the organizers may try to place you with others, and that placement is not guaranteed. You cannot build the project before the day. Starter support on site focuses on web and Android. Other platforms are allowed if you can show a working prototype.
Applications opened on 17 September 2026 and close on 12 October 2026. Teams are confirmed within a few days of the close. The build day is 21 October 2026, with doors at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time and a live announcement at 9:30 a.m. You apply from the event page.
k-ID says it wants a concrete idea, a team that can reach a working prototype in a day, and a clear view of how one product can change with age, location, and consent. Judges score whether the app adapts to age, whether it uses Google's stack, whether it works, and whether people would use it. Awards are grouped by consumer AI, education, games, and commerce, plus judges' choice awards.
