Screen Queensland's Games Residency 2027 gives Queensland game developers a year of desk space, mentoring and income support. Apply by 11 November 2026.
The Screen Queensland Games Residency 2027 is a 52 week programme that helps game developers build new games and studios. Applications for the 2027 cohort are open and close on Wednesday 11 November at 5pm AEST.
Residents get 39 weeks of permanent desk space at Screen Queensland's co working hub in Teneriffe, then 11 more weeks of casual space. The residency includes regular mentoring from games industry leaders and support to attend games events in Australia and overseas.
Business coaching comes from Birdifi Bridge for 12 months. Eligible residents can also receive up to 39 weeks of Self Employment Allowance and up to 26 weeks of rental assistance. During the first 39 weeks, residents must work from the hub at least 60% of the week.
The residency is for Queensland residents with experience using game development tools who are not employed full time by a games company. Applicants also need to meet the Workforce Australia Self Employment Assistance requirements, or be able to support themselves.
Apply through SmartyGrants. Screen Queensland runs an online information session on Wednesday 21 October at 5:30pm.
