RP2350 Hacking Challenge 2

Raspberry Pi pays $20,000 to the first person who leaks AES key material from the RP2350 by side channel analysis. Entries close 31 October 2026.

RP2350 Hacking Challenge 2 is a competition from Raspberry Pi Ltd. The prize is one award of $20,000 in cash. There are no other prizes. The task is to use side channel analysis, such as power, electromagnetic, or timing measurements, to leak AES key material so that the effective key length is short enough to decrypt the payload.

The challenge opened at 8 a.m. UK time on 29 July 2025. The rules were updated on 30 April 2026 to extend the closing date to midnight UK time on 31 October 2026. The page says the challenge ends earlier if a winning submission arrives before that date, and that the page and the GitHub repository will be updated once a winner is announced. The challenge repository says there is no winner yet and that the challenge was extended again. There is no fee to enter.

Send the method by email to doh@raspberrypi.com. Technical details of how to enter are on the raspberrypi/rp2350_hacking_challenge_2 repository linked from the rules. The winner is the first person to submit a documented method. Raspberry Pi may ask for an email or a call before it declares a winner. A panel of three judges decides, and one independent judge has the deciding vote. You have 30 days after notice to claim the prize.

The challenge is open to everyone except residents of Belarus, Crimea, Cuba, the Donetsk People's Republic, the Luhansk People's Republic, Iran, Russia, Syria, and North Korea, people restricted by export controls or sanctions, and employees and contractors of Raspberry Pi and its holding or subsidiary companies, plus their immediate families or households. Anyone under 18 needs permission from a parent or guardian. Each person may enter once.
