Build With AI: Basics

Build With AI: Basics is an online hackathon from Devpost. You build a small proof of concept with a coding agent and the Devpost Learn Skill Pack. The prize pool is $2,500 in cash. First place pays $1,250, second place $750, and third place $500. First place is also featured in the Devpost newsletter and on Devpost social channels. Everyone who submits an eligible project receives a Devpost Learn badge.

You must be 18 or older. The page says all countries and territories may take part, excluding its standard exceptions. The event is online and public.

The project must be new and started from an empty folder during the submission period. Old ideas are allowed. Old code is not. You build it with the skill pack. The public repository must include the scope.md, prd.md, and spec.md files the skills generate. Submit a demo video of 1 to 3 minutes and a public GitHub, GitLab, or BitBucket repository. Reviewers will not clone or run the code, so the video has to show the app working.

The page lists a live build session on 1 October 2026 at 1:00 pm ET, office hours on 6 October and 13 October 2026 at 3:00 pm ET, and a review called Will It Ship on 22 October 2026 at 3:00 pm ET. Submissions close on 26 October 2026 at 5:00 pm EDT.
