Sea x OpenAI Codex Hackathon

The Sea x OpenAI Codex Hackathon is a one day build event co hosted by Sea and OpenAI and run with Shopee Viet Nam. It follows earlier events in Singapore and Taiwan. This one is at the Shopee Vietnam Office in Ho Chi Minh City on October 31, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The prize pool is $50,000 in OpenAI API credits. First place is $30,000, second place is $15,000, and third place is $5,000. Members of the top five teams also receive one year of ChatGPT Pro.

Teams have three or four people. Anyone can apply. The event is free, and meals are provided on the day. Space is limited to 40 teams. All building happens on the day. Code written before the event is not accepted.

The application window on the event page is September 7 to September 26, 2026. Submit the team application and project proposal online by 11:59 p.m. on September 26. Shortlisted teams hear back on October 9. Bring your own device. For check in, bring a national identity card or VNeID level 2.
