LexHack 2026: student hackathon for AI and law

LexHack 2026 is an online student hackathon on AI, law and civic technology with $59,560 in prizes. Submissions close on September 27, 2026.

LexHack 2026 asks student builders to make AI tools for legal technology, automated law and AI safety. The organizer describes the theme as work at the meeting point of AI, law and civic technology. The listed prize pool is $59,560.

The grand prize is $1,720 in cash plus two years of CodeCrafters VIP and Adaption Labs credits. Second place pays $1,360 in cash with one year of CodeCrafters VIP, and third place pays $1,180 with six months. A further $1,000 goes to three winners of referral awards. Every participant can claim free .xyz domains, Adaption Labs access and YouCam API units while they last.

There are five tracks: access to justice and civic tech, AI safety, ethics and governance, legal automation and workflow innovation, digital rights and policy tech, and open innovation.

Entry is limited to students who are above the legal age of majority where they live. Companies and professional organisations cannot enter. Judging weighs real world impact and feasibility at 25 percent, technical execution at 25 percent, user experience and design at 20 percent, innovation at 15 percent and presentation at 15 percent.

The event runs online on Devpost and closes on September 27, 2026 at 17:00 EDT.
