Build, Ship, Shape: Amazon Developer Hackathon 2026

Amazon offers $138,000 in cash prizes for demo ready apps built for Fire TV, Alexa+, Bee and Ring. Open worldwide, submissions close October 23, 2026.

Build, Ship, Shape: Amazon Developer Hackathon is an online hackathon run by Amazon with $138,000 in prizes. For the first time Amazon Developer brings Fire TV, Alexa+, Ring and Bee together in one global event. Track winners also get a meeting with the Amazon Developer team.

There are four primary tracks. Fire TV asks for a demo ready app on Fire OS or Vega OS built with React Native, web technology or Android. Alexa+ asks for a self hosted MCP server or an Agent Skill. Bee asks for an app that connects to real data from a Bee device or an Apple Watch running Bee. Ring asks for a new app, or an extension of an existing one, built on Ring APIs, SDKs and simulators.

Two mini challenges can be layered on the same project: AWS Builder, for documented integrations with AWS services, and Open Source, for shipping a new open source project or a contribution to a public repository. Each project can win one track prize and one mini challenge prize. First place in the Fire TV and Alexa+ tracks pays $25,000 in cash plus $15,000 in AWS credits, and the mini challenges pay $5,000 in cash plus $5,000 in credits.

Participants pick a primary track and ship a working demo. A submission needs a text description, a public GitHub repository with the source code, a demo video under three minutes and product feedback on all tools used. Friction logs about the development experience can add up to 10 percent to the judging score.

The submission period runs from August 31, 2026 to October 23, 2026 at 12:00 pm PT. Judging takes place from November 9 to 20 and winners are announced on December 3, 2026. Entries are judged on tech implementation, design, potential impact and quality of the idea. Amazon says no prior experience with these devices is required and offers guides, office hours and a Discord server during the build.
